Built by New York Shipbuilding Co., Camden, N. J. Tonnage: 10,500. Dimensions: 502' x 62' (522' o.l.). Twin-screw, 14 knots. Triple expansion engines. Two masts and one funnel. First voyage as President Polk for United States Line was made in August 1922. Sale: The liner was purchased by Dollar Line in 1924. Renamed: President Taylor (1940). Fate: Stranded and abandoned off Canton Island, February 14, 1942. Previously Named: Ex-Granite State (1922).
