Resolute (1920) Hamburg-American Line
Built by Akt. Ges. "Weser", Bremen, Germany. Tonnage: 19,692. Dimensions: 590' x 72' (616' o.l.). Triple-screw, 17 knots. Triple expansion engines and steam turbine. Two masts and three funnels. Laid down as the William O' Swald in 1914 for the Hamburg-American Line, but was not completed until after World War I. Commissioned as the Brabantia in 1920, of Royal Holland Lloyd. Sale: Acquired by United American Lines in 1922 and renamed Resolute. Transferred to Hamburg-American Line in 1926. Service: Hamburg-Southampton-Cherbourg-New York. Resale: Sold to the Italian Government in August 1935. Renamed: Lombardia (1935). Fate: Bombed at Naples in August 1943. The hulk was broken up for scrap in 1947. Previously Named: Ex-Brabantia (1922), ex- William O'Swald (1920). Sister ship: Reliance.
